I would recommend that if you want to use the pool on a warm day on a Saturday, that you get down to the pool early enough to stake your claim because if you don't, you will be sitting on the concrete.A search crew Sunday morning recovered the body of a 21-year-old Johnston man who went missing Saturday night while swimming at Lake Red Rock. Like 45 minutes to get a bloody mary! And they weren't slammed with business either. We also ate at the Grand Cafe and it was very good but, again, for some reason really slow drink service. We ate at the bar because there was an hour wait. We also ate at the Italian restaurant (can't remember the name). We ate at TBones Chophouse and it was wonderful. We had the pool/mountain view and it was very nice. The rooms are great except no HD tv on the flat screen - only on the small flat screen in the bathroom. The food came out quickly but the drink service was slow. We cut her slack but it was slow service again. ![]() She was not familiar with the menu and we paid for it later - we ordered alcoholic drinks but she brought us non alcoholic drinks she said they had a certain kind of beer when they did not. The food server was very new (she said it was her third day). The next day we used the pool but it was much less crowded due to the weather and it being Sunday. My husband got his drink right away but it took 45 minutes to get mine and then quite a while for our food order to come out. Yuk! Food and drink service were extremely slow - the food server said that the bar had backed up so they had to open another bar. The pool closed for quite a while due to someone finding fecal matter in the pool. These loungers were in the pool and there was no place to put your drinks, food, or clothing except on the lounger itself. It was nice of them but typical I think of a lot of people to "save" loungers so they have extra room to put their personal items, etc. My husband asked the people behind us if anyone was sitting there and they said they were saving them for their little kids to use but, since they weren't really using them, to go ahead and take them. We noticed that some of the loungers were unoccupied for a long time so we were bold and started taking towels off the loungers so we could use them. Every single one had either towels, personal property, or a body. The pool area is lovely, however, by the time we got to the pool on Saturday, there were no loungers left to sit on. We like the fact that it is away from the strip and you really don't have to leave the property for a short stay. This was our second time staying at this hotel. If relaxing and attentive service is what you want, red rock is your place. All in all, we loved our time there but did have to shuttle/cab it to the strip to find some real action. We just had a deluxe king and it was plenty big. Pool servers were very nice, very cute and very attentive. Ok, back to red rock.we spent most of out time by the fabulous pool. Also in the Linq area by the high roller Ferris wheel. We love gambling at O'Sheas in the Linq area - always a blast! Best food: Hash House a go go. There is a shuttle to the strip every 2hrs ending at 9pm. We knew this was off the strip, which is what we wanted, but it WAY out there. My wife and I thought we'd slip away for 3 days of sunshine Mother's Day weekend. ![]()
